The Challenge

  • Improvements were required in the canonicalization and implementation of hreflang tags (the site was multilingual).
  • Some parts of the site had pages indexed on Google but were not successful in bringing organic traffic.
  • JavaScript was used to display the SEO meta tags across all pages but improvements in the configuration were required.
  • The site needed more SEO-friendly pages to further increase the amount of organic traffic. Implementation of automatic updates on the sitemaps was required.
  • All the links built to the site were earned backlinks, most of them linking to the homepage while other pages needed more links to rank higher for main keywords.

What did we do?

  • Technical SEO Audit: The site was built on a custom CMS so we had to check all areas of the site, find issues that were negatively impacting their SEO performance, and work together with their in-house dev team to implement our recommendations.
  • Keyword Research: We identified the right keywords to target with existing pages (ISO-XXXX pages). We also did a Keyword GAP analysis to identify keywords that were relevant to PECB, their competitors were ranking for these keywords but PECB wasn’t covering them anywhere.
  • On-page Improvements: We worked with their in-house team to optimize their target pages (target keywords, amount of content, internal linking, schema implementation, etc) for better SEO performance.
  • Content Audit: We analyzed more than 200 articles published on the PECB blog and defined the next actions for all these articles (which ones to leave as is, update, rewrite, delete, or redirect).
  • Website Quality Audit: This was done for PECB’s sister sites (PECB-MS.com and PECB Store). The goal was to fix all SEO fundamentals and make sure that best Technical SEO practices are established from the beginning.
  • Link Building Strategy: We did a competitive analysis and researched how companies in their industry get links. We analyzed PECB’s current backlink profile and compared that to their main competitors. Identified the link velocity we needed to achieve their goals and defined the techniques we’ll use to get the links needed.
  • Prospecting & Outreach: Identified relevant websites and reached out to them to pitch our content and why it makes sense for them to link them. We got 86 links in just five months with an avg. DR of 40. The majority of these links came from our two campaigns (broken & resource page link building)
